I was contacted by the owner of Gladiator Soap and asked to do a review of their existing website, as well as to make some updates and changes to their current layout. In addition, they wanted to integrate an ecommerce system into their existing website so that customers would have a more streamlined checkout experience when purchasing bars of their all natural soap.
After reviewing the website, I determined that the best course of action for this client was to update their existing website. While keeping the same look and feel that customers were used to, I made several significant modifications. The first included moving the existing menu to a more prominent, centered location on the page. Using larger font and hover effects made the menu both more visible and more intuitive. I also added a submenu feature as the number of pages on the site would be increasing and all pages could no longer be contained within the main horizontal menu.
In addition, I downsized many of the elements contained in the original site to minimize vertical page scroll as much as possible. Downsizing these elements also provides more white space on the pages, making for better readability and an improved user experience.
This website is driven by WordPress, so when choosing an ecommerce system I elected to use the very popular WooCommerce system to showcase my client’s line of handmade soaps. It was easy to integrate PayPal (the clients payment system of choice) with WooCommerce and provide my client with an effective online store!
It was a pleasure to work with the owner of Gladiator Soap. I am pleased with how this project turned out and so is she!
