Part of my normal blog reading takes me over to ProBlogger. While reading today’s article about productivity tools for bloggers, I was taken to a link for a blog named Millionaire Mommy Next Door.

I took some time to look around this website, and found it to be an interesting story and an interesting read. What particularly caught my eye was a reference to a charitable organization called Kiva. Further reading taught me that Kiva is an organization that administers loans to enterprising people worldwide who cannot get loans through normal banking channels. Most of these people live in third world or undeveloped countries where they struggle to be successful and to provide for their families.

Earlier this year I had seen a television show about a similar organization. Kiva, however, is internet based and even accepts PayPal. How easy can it be, I thought. I signed up and began to do my part to help others who are less fortunate than I am.

Please take the time look at Kiva’s website and see if it might be something that interests you. It is an opportunity for each of us, as individuals, to make small business loans to enterprising people in impoverished countries. Your loan through Kiva goes directly to an individual of your choice. Small amounts of money can make a tremendous difference in their ability to be successful and to prosper. And guess what? The odds are overwhelming that your entire loan will be paid back, over time, by the person to whom you loaned the money. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.
