[...] One of the best features of the area is a series of abandoned railroad beds that have long since been converted to scenic trailways. When I walk the dog in the morning I leave the city behind when I hit these trails. It’s the best of both worlds. City living with country amenities! Sometimes I take my camera along on these walks and try to capture what the day was like on my morning stroll. On January 16, 2007 it was dangerously icey, but it sure made for a great photo!
We did lose power for about 12 hours, Mike. I scrambled to get the generator filled with gas and running, and powered up the house. Everything worked great, which I am thankful for, but my internet connection was down, too. What are the odds? The thing I really wanted the power for was the internet ---- it did give me a chance to clean the carpets, though, which was something that was on my list of home chores for the past six months!

You're lucky you didn't lose power. Ice can be heavy and really play havoc on power lines.
